Elvis & Kresse commit to re-distributing up to 50% of their profits to projects and charities related to the waste that they collect.
We make annual donations to charities that are related to the waste that we collect. This year we made donations to WWF, The Wessex Autistic Society, Help for Heroes, Comic Relief and of course, the Fire Fighters Charity in support of the work that they do.
Through the coffee sack shopper project we have also made donations to CafeDirect, the Costa Foundation, David Williamson Rwanda Foundation, Bettys and Taylors and Union Hand Roasted. Click here to see some more information on this project.
Why do we make these donations? At Elvis & Kresse we believe in the notion of good business: our business was set up to help to solve an environmental problem, namely that of industrial waste. We started with the fire-hose and now reclaim more than 10 different wastes. However, we wanted to make sure our raw material suppliers stayed motivated and as such have made them stakeholders in Elvis & Kresse through the donations to charities that have a particular resonance to that industry.
In this sense we are lucky. Most traditional businesses are only able to measure their success in one way... the bottom line. At Elvis & Kresse we have 2 additional measures of success; how much waste we are able to divert from landfill and how much money we are able to give back to our charities, of which all 3 have equal importance to us.
