December 22, 2020

We are winding down here, the workshop will officially close at noon on the 24th of December and we will take our annual break until January 4th, 2021.

This has certainly been a challenging year but there has also been so much to be grateful for.

  • Our team has been absolutely incredible; socially distant manufacturing is a dance that would have failed without everyone's focus, commitment, good humour and Elvis' newly acquired choreography skills.
  • Our partners in the Fire Service and the Fire Fighters Charity have been incredible at keeping spirits up, focusing on mental health, keeping fire-hose in service, and continuing to support us.
  • Barefoot College and the Burberry Foundation have both adjusted miraculously to the pandemic; our impacts may have pivoted but they have also multiplied.
  • We have also loved working with our academic team at Queen Mary University, some of whom we have only met on Zoom. The Solar Forge Project is still running at full steam and we now have a working prototype!!
  • Our Weekend Bag officially became an icon, and is now part of the permanent collection of the V&A Museum. For the next year at least (Covid-19 permitting) you can see it as part of the Bags: Inside Out exhibition at the Victoria and Albert Museum.

With almost no travel and virtually no visitors we have had the time to lay some very interesting groundwork for 2021. We have significantly expanded our R&D pipeline and our workshop is expanding... We are really looking forward to sharing more of our plans in the new year!

We wish all of you the very best for the holidays and can't wait until we can celebrate together again. All we want for Christmas is a rolled out vaccine!

Virtual hugs,

Kresse (and Elvis)
