Recycled Fire-Hose Belts

A fire-hose belt is not just a fashion accessory. It is a working object made from a working material. Fire-hose is woven and then sandwiched with extruded rubber to carry water at high pressure through burning buildings. As a belt, that same resilience means it holds its shape in all weather, and with love can last for decades rather than seasons.

We make three genuine decommissioned British fire-hose belt styles, each one handmade between our own two workshops, one here at New Barns Farm near Faversham in Kent, and the other in Istanbul. We use metal buckles in a variety of finishes. A range of sizes are available but they are all made to order. If you require a specific size, just get in touch with us. The red and yellow colouring is the original colour of fire-hose - we have not dyed or altered the colour in any way.

What makes a fire-hose belt different?

  • Decommissioned fire-hose: Fire-hose made from a woven nylon textile encased in nitrile rubber that is extruded through and sandwiches the nylon. It is completely weather-resistant. We have sourced our hoses from fire brigades across the UK since 2005.
  • Solid metal hardware: We work with metal hardware for quality and longevity. It is available in two finishes, antique brass and silver.
  • Bespoke Sizing Available: Each belt is made to order. We have a range of sizes available, and a great measuring diagram on every belt page, so that you can be sure to choose the right size. If you require something bigger, smaller or inbetween? Just let us know.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I size a fire-hose belt?

Each belt is made to order. We have a range of sizes available, and a great measuring diagram on every belt page, just click on Description, so that you can be sure to choose the right size. We are also here to help. If you need a different size, please let us know.

Do fire-hose belts crack or deteriorate over time?

With care? No, not really. We have been making belts for over 20 years and still wear some of the originals. If you wear a belt that fits well and look after it, it will last a very long time. It is weather-resistant and improves with wear.

What buckle options are available?

We work with classic style metal buckles, they come in a few different styles and finish options. If you have a buckle of your own, and would like us to make the belt for it, just drop us an email!

Can I get a fire-hose belt personalised?

Yes, absolutely. There is a personalisation option available for all our belt styles.

Are fire-hose belts suitable for formal wear?

The fire-hose belts have a distinctive, casual aesthetic, but they can be dressed up too. Kresse often wears our Skinny Stitch belt over a black dress. If you are looking for something more formal our Leather Belts use rescued leather woven onto a fire-hose base and these work well with smart clothing.
