Printing Blanket & Fire-hose Bags

The printing blanket bags are the quieter end of our range - matt black where the fire-hose collection is red and yellow, minimal where it is bold. The material is reclaimed from commercial offset printing presses, combined with decommissioned British fire-hose and handmade at our workshops in Kent and Istanbul.

The rubber surface of the printing blanket is naturally water-resistant and extraordinarily tough. It does not show scratches or wear in the way leather does but it can scuff over time and develop its own character. The fire-hose base or detailing provides structure. The result is a bag that genuinely improves with daily use.

Reclaimed. Handmade. Built to last.

  • Reclaimed printing blankets: We collect offset rubber coated canvas blankets from commercial printing operations. The surface is matt black and is not painted or dyed. Every piece is subtly different.
  • Decommissioned fire-hose: These pieces also feature our signature British fire-hose retired from service; used as the structural base. Fire-hose is water-resistant and built to take daily use.
  • Metal Hardware: chosen for quality and longevity.

Frequently Asked Questions

What bag styles are in the printing blanket range?

Reporter bags, totes, briefcases and messenger bags. The printing blanket range has a smaller selection than the fire-hose range, but each style is designed for daily professional use.

Is the printing blanket material waterproof?

The printing blanket exterior is highly water-resistant - the rubber surface repels water effectively. The cotton lining inside the bags is not waterproof. The bags handle rain and daily use without issue.

How does the printing blanket material wear?

Very well. The rubber surface does not scratch or scuff the way leather does, but it will show everyday wear. The matt black finish develops character over years of use. These are bags designed for daily work, not occasional use.
