B Corp Month

March is B Corp Month  - essentially a time for all B Corps to come together, celebrate, collaborate and challenge themselves to increase their impact.

We have written a lot about why we are proud to be both a certified Social Enterprise and a Founding B Corp - but if we want to be really specific there are a handful of crucial reasons.

  1. It should be illegal to profit from the exploitation of people and/or the degradation of any ecosystem, anywhere. Everyone seems to agree on this, but 'capitalism' gets a pass. It doesn't have to be this way, we all know it, we just have to deliver something better. Social Enterprises? B Corps? This is what we are collectively working on...
  2. Collectively... The key word in our first 'Why' is collectively. Sure. Any individual or company can do this on their own but that won't shift the dial. We need a groundswell, we need a cultural shift, we need to work together. We need to stop poking holes in each other, competing to be the most eco, the most ethical, and start celebrating every positive step.

With this in mind, let me tell you about a few lovely B Corp connections that we have been making or celebrating this month.

The Exclusive Collection is a  B Corp certified group of hotels that we have been collaborating with for a few years now. We have made them some lovely cobranded Notebooks and most recently matching luggage tags for their VIP guests. They are such a great company to work with, all our projects have clear shared objectives and budgets and we love that they source from a range of B Corps that they have been featuring this month - including us

Ancient + Brave got in touch to discuss a collaboration. They introduced us to their audience and we are now doing the same. Why? They are awesome...  Kresse met their founder, Kate Prince, years ago for an impromptu yoga session hosted by the wonderful Jenny Kitchen of Yoyo Design (A B Corp digital design agency). Ancient + Brave is a mission-driven wellness brand expertly blending impactful botanicals, intelligent nootropics, and functional ingredients. We love that they actively promote community and nature as essential pillars for a great life... And we think you will love their Joe Marler and Davina McCall videos!

Scotmas Group. Kresse met Alistair Cameron, the CEO, completely by accident. They were both attending an event in Scotland and Kresse was genuinely going to miss her train back to Kent. Guess who steps up to offer her a lift? A B Corp CEO. Obviously. Now we don't want to get too technical but this is a wonderful company. For 28 years, they’ve focused on developing sustainable Chlorine Dioxide technologies that help provide safe water, protect public health, and support industries around the world in reducing environmental impact. Their process offers a sustainable, lower-impact alternative to traditional chlorine disinfection; prioritizing eliminating toxic by-products, increasing energy efficiency, and reducing chemical consumption across water treatment, agriculture, and industrial applications. We will never think of chlorine in the same way again...

And finally Anthesis. This is a B Corp certified consultancy that we had honestly never heard of until they got in touch to ask if we would participate in a B Corp gathering. They convened 5 different B Corps, all to talk about why the community matters to us. We love that Anthesis is working with clients on regenerative agriculture and can't wait for them to come and see what we are working on at our HQ/farm!

At Anthesis: Kresse with Tim Wookey of Amamus and Laura from Mama Bamboo
